- Ideally, previous experience of teaching children/ young people in a similar or related environment

Available to work for entire contracted time (EAC cannot accommodate holiday requests during the period of time that summer school is operating)
Job Description
Title: Teacher
Responsible to: Centre Manager, Director of Studies, Activity Manager
Hours/Days: 30 hours per week, 5 days per week, usually Monday to Friday, comprising either:
Zigzag programme (am and pm teaching) – 30 hours teaching per week
OR
Non- Zigzag programme (am only teaching) – 15 hours teaching per week plus 15 hours activity and excursion supervision (per week).
Weekend Work: EAC teachers are not required to work weekends but, if required, teachers may have the option of assisting with weekend excursions in return for an additional payment.
NB: Some Centres will operate both Zigzag and non-Zigzag programmes according to demand. Teachers must be prepared to teach under both options. We are unable to determine which centres will operate these programmes in advance.
Duties and Responsibilities
Each teacher is required to work 30 hours per week each week, over a five-day week, usually from Monday to Friday. Your duties during this time will vary according to which programme the centre is running on – Zigzag or Non-Zigzag:
Zigzag Programme – Morning and Afternoon Teaching
- 30 hours per week teaching – may include testing and induction of students
Non-Zigzag Programme – Morning Teaching Only
- 15 hours per week teaching – may include testing and induction of students
Plus
- 15 hours per week allocated for the supervision of daytime activities (sports, projects, local visits etc) or evening activities (Discos, games, quizzes, sports tournaments etc), participation in and supervision of excursions and supervising the transfer of students to and from the airport and any other duties as directed by the Centre Manager, Director of Studies or Activity Manager.
General Duties and Responsibilities for All Teachers
It is expected that all teachers will:
- Plan and deliver lessons appropriate to the students’ level.

- Arrive prepared and ready for class at all times.
- Attend a short teacher meeting once per week
Residential Staff and Pastoral Duties
EAC will provide free accommodation and full board for residential staff (where available and required) in return for pastoral duties, which are performed in addition to your other contractual duties.
Each residential staff member will be timetabled for pastoral duties on one night per week Pastoral Duties will vary from centre to centre, but will generally include:
- Helping group leaders to settle students for bed
- Dealing with any problems or emergency situations as required
- Dealing with any general accommodation problems
- Helping to ensure that students are in their accommodation and not elsewhere on the campus unauthorised.
NB: Some centres require staff to monitor lunchtime sittings and queues. Our Activity Staff will usually perform this duty, however, teachers should note that in cases of short-staffing due to absence etc, it is expected that teachers will assist with this duty if required.
