Hours of Work: As required. (Usually 39 hours per week) and at least one day off per week.

Summary of Main Duties:
As an Area Academic Manager your role is a support and supervisory one. You are expected to ensure the successful delivery of the academic programme in each of your cluster centres and your main duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Timetabling visits to 'cluster' centres with Directors of Studies
- Travelling between ‘cluster’ centres as required
- Induction of Directors of Studies where necessary
- Assisting with induction of teachers where necessary
Teacher Development and Support
- Teacher Observation
- Facilitating peer observation by relieving teachers of class duties
- INSET (In-Service Training)
- Assisting teachers with lesson planning
Director of Studies Support
- Academic administration support
- Assisting DoS with student testing and induction where possible
- Ensuring student records are kept up to date
- Assisting DoS with any grievances /complaints/disciplinary problems
- Timetabling support
- Weekly telephone contact with DoSs
- De-briefing teachers/DoSs at close of contract (where possible)
Other Duties
- Emergency cover for DoSs
- Reporting to line manager on a week-by-week basis re. centre visits
- Keeping written records on visits and sending weekly written report to line manager
- Assisting with Trinity GESE examination administration
Please note that the AAM is not expected to teach classes, even if there is a shortage of teachers at a centre. Teaching may take place where it is part of a planned teacher release programme (for example for peer observation).
Meetings
- Attending teachers' meetings at centres where possible
- Available for interview at BC inspection
