EAC Language Tuition: Dedicated To You

Welfare

It is important that you feel safe, secure and relaxed when you are studying with EAC. Your welfare is a key part of all EAC education programmes

Young Learners English UK

EAC is a founder member of Young Learners English UK, a sub group of English UK. The group is committed to raising the standards and quality of course provision for young people attending summer vacation courses and year round short stay courses. We aim to make sure that all young people who attend our courses have the best possible course programme, supervision and safety at all times.

EAC Staff

EAC has a strict selection procedure for staff recruitment, looking carefully for qualified staff with relevant experience. At least two referees are contacted for each staff member. All our staff attend comprehensive pre-camp training and orientation days. These courses cover a range of topics such as security, fire drills, procedures, safety guidelines and risk assessments for activities. Meetings with centre management team and staff take place on a daily basis and senior EAC managers visit regularly to ensure our procedures are being strictly followed. 70% of our staff return to us each year meaning you will be cared for by people with experience and enthusiasm for EAC schools.

Individual students

In 2010 individual students made up 10% of our young learner bookings (with 90% group bookings), but it really depends on the location as individual students can make up up 40% of some centres so look out for our facts on the centre pages later on. All individuals are assigned an activity leader as a mentor, so you will be introduced to other students and given accommodation in the same area where possible. You will then be given directions and timetables so you don’t miss a minute of your programme. EAC staff also live on campus so there will be a staff member easily contactable throughout the night in case of emergencies.

Medical arrangements

EAC has fully qualified first aiders on sites and all our centres have links with local dentists, doctors and hospitals. We strongly recommend arranging travel insurance to cover any medical costs either from your own country or our policy. You can buy insurance from EAC.

Airport transfers

EAC will take care of you from the moment you arrive at the airport, as our airport transfer service provides a 24 hour meet and greet service at all airports and a 24 hour emergency transfer phone number in case of problems. You will be met by an EAC representative and taken to your transport, which will take you to your chosen centre and the start of your EAC Young Learner’s programme. If you are arriving alone you can book either a private taxi transfer or our EAC shuttle service. EAC shuttles depart from selected airports and centres at specified times on Sundays.

Unaccompanied Minors

If you are travelling alone and you or your family have booked ‘Unaccompanied Minor’ service with your airline, we will complete the arrival and departure elements of this service at an additional fee of £65. You must book this well in advance of travel and provide us with your full details.

During Activities

Every day you will participate in activities on campus or in the local area. On campus activities will include lots of sports and games such as football, basketball and tennis as well as dance, arts and fun games like treasure hunts. We will also explore the local area and visit the town you are staying in – there is lots to do and you should check the details on the pages of your preferred location for what is available locally. Each weekend we will take you out by private coach on a full day sightseeing excursion. You will also have a half-day excursion each week in most centres. These excursions are led and guided by EAC staff who, like in all activities, are with you all the time. It’s a wonderful way to see some of the great locations in the UK – again, see the details of which excursions are available at your chosen centre.

In the Evening

Each evening all residential students will have a fun activity to join in – usually there is a choice of more than one. This is a great time to relax and have fun – we organise disco parties, karaoke, talent shows, games nights, fashion shows as well as film nights, quizzes and tournaments. Homestay students will have the opportunity to participate in the evening activities three evenings per week, with the other evenings spent at home with their homestay hosts.
